Online blackjack training guides

Please review Ace and a ten online blackjack training guides we would advise all of our avid readers to check our site regularly for advance tips on card strategy.

Have you ever been in a situation where one of the cards held in your dealt hand contains an Ace? There are two possible methods of counting neither of which exceeds our desired value of twenty-one. Please be advised that a hand containing an ace and a seven may have a count or value of either 8 or 18 because an ace can be deemed as having a value of either eleven or one. This flexible type of hand is known to trained blackjack dealers as a two-way hand or a soft count strategy. Handling this situation correctly requires special advance techniques, please read on:

  1. If the situation arises where the dealer's card facing up (up card) is one of the following values, eight, nine, ten or ace, we suggest that you should stand only on a soft 19 or higher.
  2. On the other hand if the dealer's upcard has a value of two, three, four five, six or seven, we advise you to stand only on a soft 18 or higher.

Ace and a ten advice's that if you come into a favorable situation where your cards are that of a soft hand format you should never stand until the total card count is at least a value of eighteen. We would suggest that you should continue to draw cards until the soft count level is reached and stand, as indicated above. In the event that, when drawing one or more cards, and out of sheer possibility your soft count exceeds 21 (please note this occurrence does arise pretty often, since a high soft count is being hit), you should immediately revert to the standard hit-or-stand strategy detailed on our how-to-play page, because one no longer possesses the conditions to be termed a soft hand.

Example: Suppose the following event has occurred, our dealer's up card has a numeric value of six; the dealer deals out our cards and we see that we have a soft hand of 14, time comes around and since we have not achieved our desired safe level of eighteen we must take another hit, from that we get an card value of nine. Now we total up our cards using the Ace that we have, as an 11, we realize that we have obtained a value of twenty-three which means sadly for us that we would bust and the dealer would win. Seeing this we would notice that our soft hand strategy could no longer be applied if we wish to remain in the game at hand. So one has to immediately change technique to a standard strategy and instead of busting and leaving we now have a hand of 13 which we could stand on if we desire.

So briefly recapping we can clearly see that this technique of soft hands (sometimes called two hand play) is advantageous, to our blackjack arsenal of goodies. Due to the fact applying the right strategy at the right time we can obtain two chances of winning. One first goes for the high count by hitting a soft count, and if that is unsuccessful we have the option of reverting to the standard hit-and-draw strategy. Please check back for more advance techniques.
